Quilts Launch Today!

Big Monday morning news from clothlab- the 'Quilt Shop' section of my site is FINALLY UP! Could not have photographed these without the uuber help of my boyfriend Blair, who sacrificed a long Sunday to help me get these babies documented.

Every quilt I create is a labour of love, and each is a product of its own unique inspiration. Of all the quilts in the shop, the 'Barr Star Quilt' is the most meaningful to me:

"... inspired by a quilt made by my Great Grandmother Barr just over 100 years ago. My mother gave it to me last summer, when our family home was being sold. I had no idea she did work so similar to my own, even though it was her daughter (my grandmother) who taught me to sew. It was a great joy to 'spend time with her' as I recreated her piece with my own spin, a design that required a good deal of math skills and technical precision. I marvelled at how she was able make her version on a farm, with seven kids and no rotary cutter or electricity."
